When to visit Oman: a season-by-season guide

Oman is large enough that the answer depends on where you are going. Muscat and the northern coast are most comfortable from October to March. The desert is best in the same window, but nights are cold in December and January.

Dhofar is the exception. The khareef from late June to early September turns Salalah green, with mist and waterfalls that feel nothing like the rest of the Gulf. It is also the busiest time there, so book early.

If you want one recommendation: late October. The water is still warm, the light is soft, and the summer crowds have gone.
